Clay Cookware

Do I need to do anything before using my clay pot for the first time?

Yes — seasoning is required. Rub the inside with coconut oil, fill halfway with water, and heat on a low flame until it simmers gently. Let it cool, discard the water, and rinse. Your pot is ready. Skipping this step can cause cracking. Full instructions on our Care & Usage Guide.

Can I use clay pots on a gas stove?

Yes. All our clay cookware works on gas stoves. Start on a low flame and increase gradually — clay needs time to heat evenly.

Can I use clay pots on an induction cooktop?

No. Clay is not compatible with induction cooktops. Gas stoves only.

Can I put my clay pot in the oven?

Yes, in a traditional oven at low to medium temperatures. Avoid broiler settings or sudden high heat. Always start from room temperature — never place a cold clay pot directly into a hot oven.

My clay pot cracked. What happened?

The most common causes are: placing a cold pot on high heat directly, putting a hot pot on a cold surface, skipping the seasoning step, or soaking in water for too long. Clay responds to gradual temperature changes — always start on a low flame and never submerge a hot pot in cold water.

My clay pot has a strange smell. Is it safe?

A mild earthy smell is completely normal when clay is new and will go away after a few uses. If it develops a cooking odour over time, fill with water and 2 tablespoons of baking soda, leave overnight, rinse, and dry in sunlight. See our Care Guide for full details.

Can I use metal spoons and spatulas with clay pots?

We recommend wooden or silicone utensils. Metal can scratch and chip the clay surface over time.

Can I use clay pots on a tawa or iron stand?

Yes — using a iron ring stand or tawa support under a clay pot on gas is a good idea, especially for larger pots. It distributes heat more evenly and reduces the risk of cracking.

Stone Mortar & Pestle

Do I need to do anything before using my stone mortar for the first time?

Yes. Grind two handfuls of raw white rice in the mortar and discard the powder — this removes fine stone dust from manufacturing. Rinse and dry before use. Full instructions on our Care & Usage Guide.

Which size Kalvam should I buy?

For daily home use, the 8 inch is the most practical. For grinding larger batches of chutney, masala, or batter, the 10 inch or Boat Shape Big gives you more room. The compact and round 5 inch options are ideal for grinding small amounts of sandalwood, turmeric, or daily spices at the pooja spot. See our Product Finder for a full size comparison.

Can I use soap to clean my stone mortar?

Avoid soap where possible — stone is porous and can absorb detergent, which then affects the taste of ground spices. Rinse well with water and use a stiff brush to remove residue.

My stone mortar has turmeric stains. How do I remove them?

Rub the stained area with a cut lemon half and leave in direct sunlight for an hour. Rinse and dry.

Neem Wood Utensils

Why choose neem wood over regular wooden spoons?

Neem has natural antibacterial properties that most other woods don’t. This makes it more hygienic for daily kitchen use, especially when cooking dal, curd, or anything that might linger on the utensil. It is also hard and dense, so it doesn’t warp or absorb strong cooking smells as easily as softer woods.

Can I put neem wood utensils in the dishwasher?

No. Dishwasher heat and strong detergents will crack, warp, and split neem wood. Hand wash with mild soap and dry immediately.

How do I maintain neem wood utensils?

Once a month, rub with a few drops of coconut oil and wipe clean. This keeps the wood smooth and prevents splitting. Store in a dry place — do not leave in water or a damp drawer.

Are your neem wood utensils safe for non-stick cookware?

Yes. Neem wood is smooth and gentle on all cookware surfaces, including non-stick, clay, and cast iron.

Pressure Cooker Gaskets

How do I know which gasket fits my pressure cooker?

Each gasket is specific to a Prestige cooker model. Check our Product Finder for a full compatibility chart. The gasket number is usually printed on your cooker lid or in the manual.

How often should I replace my pressure cooker gasket?

Every 6–8 months with regular daily use. Replace sooner if you notice steam escaping from the sides of the lid, the cooker takes longer to build pressure, or the gasket feels hard, cracked, or misshapen.

Can I use your gaskets on non-Prestige cookers?

Our gaskets are sized and manufactured specifically for Prestige cooker models. Using them on other brands may not give a proper seal and can be unsafe. Check the model number before ordering.

Mixer Grinder Jars & Couplers

How do I know which jar fits my mixer grinder?

Our Product Finder has a full compatibility guide. In general, our Preethi-compatible jars fit Preethi Popular, Eco Plus, Zodiac, Blue Leaf, and Steel models. Our couplers fit most Indian mixer grinder brands with 4-teeth fittings.

Can I use your jars on my Bajaj / Pigeon / Maharaja Whiteline mixer?

Our universal couplers and most of our bullet jars are compatible with Bajaj, Pigeon, Sumeet, Kenstar, and most mixers that use standard 4-teeth couplers. Check the product page for the full compatibility list.

How do I clean my mixer jar blades safely?

Quick method: fill with warm water, run for 10 seconds, rinse. For a thorough clean, carefully use a bottle brush around the blade base. The blades are sharp — always handle from the side, not from below.
