Prestige Pressure Cooker Gasket Guide — Which Model Fits Your Cooker?

Your Prestige pressure cooker gasket has worn out — and now you're staring at a wall of model numbers wondering which one fits. 60001? 60005? 60407?

This guide maps every common Prestige cooker type to the exact gasket code you need. Find your cooker below, order the right gasket, and get back to cooking today.

Why the Gasket Code Matters

Prestige makes over 20 different pressure cooker models across aluminium and stainless steel, junior and senior sizes. Each model uses a different gasket diameter. Using the wrong gasket causes:

     Pressure leaks during cooking

Uneven cooking / longer cook times

     Unsafe pressure build-up

Always match the gasket to your cooker's exact model number, printed on the bottom of your cooker or on the lid.

How to Read Your Prestige Cooker Model Number

Look at the underside of your pressure cooker lid or the base of the pot. You'll see a stamped or printed model number, often starting with 'P' or 'PR'. The gasket code is usually listed in your cooker's manual.

If you've lost the manual, use the table above. Match your cooker's material (aluminium or stainless steel), its rough capacity in litres, and the name printed on the lid (Junior, Senior, Baby Handi, Deluxe, etc.).

How to Replace a Prestige Pressure Cooker Gasket — Step by Step

Prestige Pressure Cooker Gasket Guide

Step 1 — Remove the old gasket

Open the cooker lid and locate the rubber ring seated inside the rim. Pull it out gently by hand — it should come out in one piece. Discard it.

Step 2 — Clean the gasket groove

Wipe the groove inside the lid with a damp cloth to remove any residue or mineral deposits. A clean groove ensures the new gasket seats properly.

Step 3 — Fit the new gasket

Press the new gasket into the groove starting from one point and working around the rim. It should sit flush with no bulging. Do not stretch or force it.

Step 4 — Test before cooking

Add water to the cooker, close the lid, and bring to pressure on medium flame. Check for steam escaping from the sides. If steam leaks, the gasket may need to be reseated.

When Should You Replace Your Gasket?

The gasket looks cracked, hard, or brittle

Steam is escaping from the sides of the lid during cooking

The cooker is taking longer to reach pressure

You notice a rubber smell during cooking

As a general rule, replace your gasket every 12–18 months with regular use, or immediately if you see visible damage.
